Stencil

A stencil from your photo

The dark parts of your photo are cut out of a thin plate. Spray paint through it, use an airbrush or a fabric marker, or dust cocoa through it onto a cappuccino. Loose parts, like the middle of an O or an eye, are held in place by thin bridges that are added for you.

White is cut out: the dark parts of your photo. Thin dark lines show where the bridges go.

Holes and bits of plate smaller than this are left out: paint can't get through a tiny hole, and a tiny bit of plate snaps off.

Every loose part of the plate gets the shortest bridge to the rest. Wider is stronger; narrower shows less in the print.

  • Print it flat with 0.2 mm layers, no supports. PETG bends without breaking and is easier to clean than PLA.
  • Spray paint: hold the stencil flat against the surface (a little repositionable spray glue on the back helps) and spray in light coats from 20 to 30 cm.
  • Coffee: hold it just above the foam and tap cocoa or cinnamon through a small sieve. Wash it by hand afterwards.
