Your photo in dots

Like a picture in an old newspaper: your photo becomes a grid of dots that grow where it is dark. Up close you see the dots, from a few steps back you see the photo. Print the dots raised in a second colour with one filament swap, or as holes in a plate that lights up in a window.

    • Print it flat with 0.2 mm layers. Nothing needs supports.
    • Filament swap: PrusaSlicer reads the swap from the 3MF. In Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or Cura, add a colour change (or pause) at the height in the plan.
    • Light box: print the plate in a dark colour so only the holes let light through. Hang it in a window on a thread through the two small holes in the frame (frame 4 mm or wider), or stand it in front of an LED strip.
    • Look at it from two or three metres away: that is where the dots turn into a photo.
