PNG to STL

PNG to STL: an image or drawing, ready to print

Choose a PNG or JPG of a logo, an icon or a drawing. The background is taken away, every colour gets a filament and the shapes are raised on a base that follows the outline, or on a sign, keychain or magnet.

Building your design…

    • Print it flat with 0.2 mm layers, the logo up. Nothing needs supports.
    • Filament swap: PrusaSlicer reads the swaps from the 3MF. In Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or Cura, add a colour change (or pause) at each height in the plan.
    • Small text and thin lines print sharper with a 0.2 mm first layer and a slower outer wall.

    Good to know

What kind of image works best?

Flat colours with sharp edges: a logo, an icon, clip art or a drawing with clear lines. A PNG with a transparent background is ideal. For a photo of a person, a pet or a landscape, use Photo to STL instead.

Can I use a photo of a drawing?

Yes. Take it in good, even light, straight from above, and set Colours to 2 so the paper becomes the background and the lines become the print. Thin pencil lines print better when you turn up Bolder lines.

Why do I get more colours than I expected?

Shadows and soft edges can look like a colour of their own. Set Colours to the number you want, or set the extra colour to Base colour or Leave out.

How big should the image be?

At least 500 pixels across. Smaller images are enlarged smoothly before they are traced, but fine details may already be lost in the file. An SVG is always sharp.

Can I sell what I print?

Yes, as long as you have the right to use the image.

Which slicer settings do I use?

0.2 mm layers, no supports, the logo facing up. For a filament swap, add a colour change (or pause) at every height in the plan; PrusaSlicer reads them from the 3MF by itself.

Is it free, and is my logo uploaded?

It is free and needs no account. Your file is read and turned into a model in your browser: it never leaves your device.
