Pegboard

SKÅDIS-compatible pegboard in any size

Set the width and height, and download a pegboard that fits the wall above your desk or workbench exactly. It has the same 5 × 15 mm slots as IKEA's SKÅDIS board, so SKÅDIS hooks and shelves hang on it, and it comes in pieces that fit your printer and lock together with jigsaw tabs. Below it are twelve accessories to print that hang on this board and on IKEA's.

  • Turn on elephant's foot compensation (about 0.15 mm), so the slots stay 5 mm wide at the front.
  • In Bambu Studio or OrcaSlicer, press Arrange to put the pieces of the 3MF on plates of their own.

How they hang

In, down, done

Every accessory has one or more tabs that end in a leg. The leg holds the part against the back of the board, so it can't tip forward under a load.

Push in at the top

Hold the part a few millimetres above where it goes and push its tabs into the slots.

Let it drop

It drops about 5 mm: the tabs rest on the bottom of the slots and the legs hook behind the board.

To take it off

Lift it about 5 mm and pull it out. Nothing to unscrew, so you can move things around.

Good to know

Does it fit IKEA SKÅDIS accessories?

Yes. The slots are 5 mm wide and 15 mm tall on the SKÅDIS pattern: a 40 mm grid with a second grid shifted 20 mm across and 20 mm up, in a 5 mm thick board. The slots are drawn 0.3 mm bigger, because printed holes come out a little small, and the stand-offs keep the board 10 to 20 mm off the wall so hooks have room behind it.

Do the accessories fit a real IKEA SKÅDIS board?

Yes. Every accessory is checked against IKEA's 5 × 15 mm slots and against a printed board's: the tabs go in at the top of the slot, drop about 5 mm and then hang with the legs 4.9 mm below the slot, behind the board.

How big can the board be?

From 12 × 12 cm to 120 × 120 cm, in steps of 4 cm so the slot pattern is the same at every edge. The IKEA sizes are one click: 36 × 56, 56 × 56 and 76 × 56 cm, and so are the biggest boards that fit A3, A2 and A1 paper (28 × 40, 40 × 56 and 56 × 84 cm). Bigger than your bed, the board comes in pieces. For a whole wall of boards, try them side by side in the wall planner first.

How do the pieces join?

Along jigsaw tabs, cut between the slots so no slot is split and no stand-off is cut. Lay the pieces face down and press them together, or screw the first piece to the wall and push each next one onto it from the front. Every piece has its own screws, so the joints don't carry the weight.

Which screws do I need?

Countersunk 4 mm screws with wall plugs: two per piece, or four per piece for heavy tools. They go through the stand-offs, so they have to be 35 mm longer than the wall gap you pick (50 mm for the standard 15 mm gap). The heads sit flush with the front. Or choose no holes and use strong mounting strips.

How do I print it?

Flat on its front, as it is in the file, with 0.2 mm layers, 3 walls and 15 % infill. Nothing needs supports. Turn on elephant's foot compensation (about 0.15 mm), so the slots stay 5 mm wide at the front. PLA is fine; use PETG in a warm garage or shed.

Do the accessories need supports?

No. The hooks print on their side, so the whole hook is one strong piece. The racks, shelf and holders print upside down on their top face: the tabs have a 45° top for that. The bin, the cup and the tape rod stand up.

Is this made by IKEA?

No. SKÅDIS is a trademark of Inter IKEA Systems B.V. Shapekit is not connected to IKEA; the board and the parts are made to fit the same slots.
