Cookie cutter

A cookie cutter from your photo or drawing

Choose a drawing, a logo or a photo of your dog, and the outline becomes a cookie cutter. The lines inside become a stamp that presses the details into the dough. Print both, cut, press, bake.

Green is the cookie, orange the lines of the stamp. Only the biggest shape is used, with its holes filled.

3 Cutter

80 mm
The longest side of the cookie. 60 to 100 mm is a usual cookie.
1.5 mm
Rounds off points and notches narrower than this. Dough can't follow very fine details.
16 mm
1.2 mm
The last 4 mm of the blade are 0.8 mm thin, so it cuts cleanly. A 5 mm flange on top is where you press.

4 Stamp optional

More detail picks up fainter lines. The stamp fits inside the cutter with 0.8 mm to spare, and a knob presses into its back.

  • Print with 0.2 mm layers and no supports: the cutter on its flange with the blade up, the stamp with its lines up, the knob flat side down.
  • Roll the dough about 5 mm thick. Cut, lift the cutter, then press the stamp in about halfway and lift it straight up. A little flour on the stamp stops it sticking.
  • PLA is fine for cutting dough, but the layers hold crumbs: wash by hand in lukewarm water and dry it well. Not in the dishwasher.
