QR code to STL

Type a link or anything else, choose what to make and download a QR code that is ready to print. The maker reads the code back from the design before you download it, so you know it scans.

More correction scans better when the print is worn, but gives the code more squares.

Building your design…

    • Print it flat with 0.2 mm layers. Nothing needs supports.
    • Filament swap: PrusaSlicer reads the swap from the 3MF. In Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or Cura, add a colour change (or pause) at the height in the plan.
    • Matte filament scans better than silk or shiny filament, which reflects the light.
    • Scan it with your phone camera before you give it away or put it up.

    Good to know

What can the QR code hold?

A link, a Wi-Fi login, a contact card (vCard), plain text, an email with a subject or a phone number. Phones open each one the right way: the link in the browser, the Wi-Fi login straight into the settings, the contact into the address book.

    Will it scan?

The maker draws your design in its two colours and runs a QR reader on it before you download. It also warns when the squares get smaller than 1.5 mm or the colours are too alike. Print the code in a dark colour on a light base, in matte filament, and it scans from about 30 cm.

How do I print it in two colours?

On any printer with one filament change: the base in one colour, and at the height in the plan the printer pauses for the second colour. The 3MF has that change in it for PrusaSlicer. With an AMS or MMU, choose Multi-colour and both colours come as parts of one file.

What can I make with it?

A table sign with a foot, a coaster (square or round), a keychain, a wall sign with a keyhole in the back, or a fridge magnet with pockets for round magnets.

    Is it free?

Yes, without an account. The code is made in your browser: nothing you type is sent anywhere.
