Photo to STL

Any photo, printed in colour

Turn a photo into a flat colour print for any FDM printer. Thin layers of a few filaments stack up into the shades of your photo: you just swap filament at the layers we tell you. Or make a one-colour relief. Set the size, shape, layers and colours, and see it in 3D before you download.

What is TD?

TD (transmission distance) is how thick a filament must be before you can no longer see the colour below it. Light colours are more see-through than dark ones. We estimate it from the colour; if your filament brand lists a TD value, fill it in for a more exact preview and better layer choices.

    • 3MF is one file with everything: the layer height, each part with its filament colour and the filament changes. PrusaSlicer opens it ready to slice; set the first layer to the height above and use 100% infill.
    • Another slicer (Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer, Cura)? Check that each part has its filament, and add the filament changes from the plan if they're missing (the + on the layer slider). If the parts don't come through, use the STL download.
    • STL lies flat with the picture on top. With colour areas you get one STL per filament: load them together as one object with several parts.
